The Commission has as its main goal the furthering of the OPTIMA Herbarium and Library in Palermo. Its principal purpose is to encourage Mediterranean botanists, on the one hand to deposit their own botanical publications and donate sets of their plant collections in Palermo and, on the other hand, to make use of the Palermo collections for their own research purposes.
