This
Commission was established at the XI OPTIMA Meeting in
Belgrade
with the aim to establish links
between herbaria and coordinate activities.
These activities should follow GBIF standards and include the
compilation of information concerning availability of holdings, the
presentation of herbarium specimens on the internet and lobbying for the
network.
2008. A questionnaire was prepared and is to be circulated to all Mediterranean herbaria, so as to assess their concrete conditions and needs. A request has been addressed to Index Herbariorum, for information of the minimal condition a herbarium must meet to be registered, and suggest that exceptions be possible for historical or geographical reasons.
2007. The Commission was established and the
components are Mathez and Schäfer from
Montpellier
,
Montserrat from
Barcelona
, Vogt from
Berlin
and Vitek from
Wien.
A first
attempt was made to prepare a form to be distributed to the European and
Mediterranean Herbaria. A discussion has begun on how to improve the links
between herbaria by traditional and modern technologies.
